How BePaid Works

Last updated: 10 June 2026

BePaid turns a Xero overdue invoice into a solicitor-reviewed Letter of Demand in three steps. No legal jargon, no chasing lawyers, no percentage of your money lost to a collector.

Step 1: Connect your Xero account

Sign in with Xero and authorise BePaid to read your invoice data. Your credentials stay with Xero. We only see the invoice information you give us permission to access, and we use it for one purpose: helping you get paid.

Once connected, BePaid pulls in your overdue invoices automatically. No copying and pasting. No spreadsheets.

Step 2: Pick the invoices you want to escalate

You choose which invoices to act on. BePaid shows you the debtor name, amount, and how long the invoice has been overdue. Select the ones that matter and confirm the details.

Nothing is sent at this stage. You are in control of every step.

Step 3: A solicitor reviews and sends the Letter of Demand

BePaid generates a Letter of Demand based on the invoice details you selected. A solicitor working through the registered Incorporated Legal Practice reviews the letter before it goes out. Once approved, the letter is sent from legal letterhead with a payment link included for the debtor.

The debtor receives a professional legal notice that makes clear the debt is being pursued, along with a direct way to pay, raise a genuine dispute, or notify you of financial hardship.

What the debtor receives

Every letter sent through BePaid gives the recipient three clear options:

  • Pay the outstanding amount via the included payment link
  • Raise a genuine dispute about the invoice
  • Notify BePaid of financial hardship so the matter can be handled appropriately

We do not send letters designed to pressure people into paying debts they do not owe. That is both the legal requirement and the right approach.

Coming features

The current focus is getting the core workflow right. Planned features include:

  • One-click Xero sync so overdue invoices surface automatically
  • One-click Letter of Demand from your invoice list
  • A debtor payment portal so recipients can pay directly online
  • Automated escalation at each stage if the debt remains unpaid
  • A matter dashboard showing the status of every open debt

Pricing
