The problem

Australian small businesses are sitting on $115 billion in overdue invoices. Two in every three invoices are paid late. Most business owners chase the same debts with the same polite follow-up emails, watch the same weeks turn into months, and eventually write off money they were owed.

The options that exist today are bad. You can keep sending reminders and hope for the best. You can spend $300 to $500 on a lawyer to write a single letter. Or you can hand the debt to a collector who takes 15 to 25 cents in every dollar. None of those options work well for a business that just wants to be paid.

What BePaid does

BePaid closes that gap. Connect your Xero account, select the overdue invoices that matter, and get a solicitor-reviewed Letter of Demand sent from a registered Incorporated Legal Practice, starting from $99.

That is it. No haggling with a lawyer. No guessing whether your letter is legally sound. No surrendering a cut of your money to a debt collector. A proper Letter of Demand, reviewed by a solicitor, sent on legal letterhead, for the cost of a dinner.

Why a Letter of Demand works

Most overdue invoices are not disputes. They are procrastination. A reminder from your Xero account is easy to ignore. A Letter of Demand from a law practice is not. It signals that the debt is being taken seriously, that legal escalation is the next step, and that the cost of delay has increased. That change in tone resolves most debts before anything further is required.

The compliance approach

We take the obligations on debtors seriously. Every letter sent through BePaid gives the recipient a clear path to pay, to raise a genuine dispute, or to notify us of financial hardship. We do not send letters designed to pressure people into paying debts they do not owe or cannot afford. That is not just the right thing to do, it is what the law requires, and it is what protects our clients too.

What we are building toward

The Letter of Demand is the starting point. The vision is a complete debt recovery workflow that lives inside your accounting software: one-click escalation, a debtor payment portal, automated follow-up at each escalation stage, and clear visibility over every open matter. The goal is that recovering a debt should require no more effort than sending an invoice in the first place.

Where we are now

BePaid is in early access. We are building with a small group of founders, bookkeepers, and small business owners who told us this problem was costing them real money. If that is you, join the waitlist.
